If you have been practicing the slow swing speed with standard balls for golf, you may experience certain challenges. I did the hard work for you and picked the best ball sets for this particular practice. I’ve been buying and testing the balls for 2 weeks in a row and below I can share what I’ve learned about the choice of special golf balls for achieving slow swing speeds.
What makes a good golf ball for slow swing speeds?
According to the established requirements, a modern golf ball weighs at least 45.9 grams and has a diameter of at least 42.67 mm. The structure of a golf ball consists of several layers. The basis of the product’s design is the core, and the upper layer is a shell of material similar to rubber.
As you can see, the outer surface of the ball is covered with small dimples. There may be a different number of them, depending on the decision of the specific manufacturer – from 324 to 428 dimples per ball. The presence of such cavities significantly improves the aerodynamic characteristics of the ball: reduced air resistance, airflow during the flight. In this way, a good golf ball can fly further, higher and clearly along a given trajectory, without deviations. Using such balls allows a more accurate kick, giving it the best possible strength and rolling it into the hole faster. You may choose such balls for practicing slow swing speeds.
If you hit the ball with the same force smoothly and with dents, the ball with dents will fly away by 230 meters, and smooth – only 115 meters. In addition, a good golf ball in the notches has a much smoother trajectory and can be directed more accurately towards the target.
Top 3 best golf balls for practicing slow swing speeds:
- Bridgestone offers a dozen of balls with a soft feel, with better accuracy;
- Srixon Z-Star’s dozen have special speed dimples, with improved EGG;
- Wilson is another good dozen of golf balls, with enhanced spin and the specific ionomer cover;
I also recommend buying golf balls made by KLS and Trust brands.

Bridgestone is a good choice for this kind of thing. They offer soft balls that have better accuracy than Srixon and Wilson. I’ve done tests and comparisons and Bridgestone wins. Also, I wouldn’t totally exclude KLS golf balls but I haven’t got a chance to properly test them out.
